Front Cover - Laser Cut Suede
The front and back suede covers are laser cut with the pattern of lines created on the backside of the last black fabric page.
Detail photos of the book I made in June 2014 at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. The front and back suede covers are laser cut with the pattern of lines created by the threads on the backside of the last black embroidered page. Techniques and materials include: laser-cut suede, French knots, quilting, non-woven grounds, pulled-thread openwork, hand-printing, sequins and shisha.
An artifact, sampler, journal, sketchbook, and record; the coastal sky, fauna, woods, and striking modern architecture of the school are translated through the lenses of traditional needlework techniques and experimentation with new technology.

The back side is also compelling and deserves to be the front side as well.
